Lara Ghannam is a daughter of Muslim Palestinian immigrants and raised in Central Florida. From a very early age, she found her passion in civil and human rights and led grass-roots advocacy movements around the state. Lara attended the University of North Florida, where she obtained her bachelor’s degree in political science with a concentration in international relations. Her background, activism, and education inspired her to continue her path to law school.

Lara obtained a Juris Doctor from Florida A&M University, College of Law, where she also received, and was the sole candidate, for the Certificate in Human Rights and Global Justice Studies. She was also the first chairperson of the Social Justice Committee at FAMU College of Law and co-founded the Immigrant Project, where she led immigrant students in meetings with Florida legislators and campaigns advocating for immigrant rights.

Immigration Attorney Lara Ghannam was admitted to the Illinois Bar in 2021 and began her career as a civil rights attorney, focusing on federal agency discriminatory issues from agencies such as the FBI and Customs and Border Protection. Her exposure to work with CBP enhanced her passion for immigrant rights and encouraged her to direct her advocacy to issues of immigration law. In April 2023, Attorney Lara Ghannam joined the incredible advocates at Mubarak Law as an Associate Attorney
